Corpus Christi Lawyer John Flood Recognized for Winning Top 100 Texas Jury Verdict of 2010
John Flood, a founding partner of the law firm Flood & Flood, successfully tried an oil and gas case to a record-setting verdict in 2010.
The $20.8 million jury award in the Umma Resources, LLC v. Key Energy Services, Inc. case in McMullen County, Texas, was the fifth largest contract verdict in Texas in 2010, according to Verdict Search. It was the 25th largest Texas jury verdict for the whole year in any type of case, and nearly was included in the national top 100 list as well.
Umma Resources, LLC v. Key Energy Services, Inc. was a damaged gas well case. The jury found that the defendant Key Energy failed to comply with an agreement with Flood’s client. Jurors also found that Key Energy’s negligence was a proximate cause of the injury to the well.
The case settled for a confidential amount after the April 2010 jury verdict.
